The 3 Successes of a Sixteen Year Old

I try to make it a habit to respond to the Daily Prompt, especially if it relates to my life and perhaps even a story. Today, it’s not really much of a story-related prompt, instead it is more of a opinion-esque prompt, so I’ll just share what I think success is in the space below.

Today’s Daily Prompt: What is a life well lived to you?

Everyone typically depicts an indicator of success as either one of two things. Happiness or money. They say money can’t buy you happiness, but money can sure buy you a lot of things. You could even argue that money can in fact buy you some forms of happiness. You have the money to buy more luxury items eg. ice cream (which I just love even as I age by the day), simple board games to play with family and even just a book.

Success to me directly means good grades in school. What do you expect? I’m in secondary school at the moment. It is essentially the primary goal in secondary education. Getting the good grades don’t necessarily 100% the highest paying jobs in the world, but it does a lot of things. It makes people view you in high esteem, it makes my parents proud, and it does command a powerful position for you to be in (you get to select schools, rather than have schools select you).

That is one aspect of success for me at this point in my life.

Another I guess is always the social aspect. Have a lot of friends. Have a lot of contacts. Get a fantastic girlfriend. You know that type of thing. Having a lot of friends that I can have a laugh with and be able to talk for endless hours is enough for me. That is teen life well lived. You have a lot of friends, and I guess you can feel happy that you have a lot of people you can count on, and that you can be counted on by many others as well.

Getting the girl I like is always success for me. Something I can fistpump and listen to happy love songs for ages to (well, I won’t talk about the breakups at the moment considering we’re in fact talking about successes rather than things you want to rip pillows apart for). There is that happiness especially when it is about romance that makes it that much different from friendships. Stupid hormones.

The third success for me at this point in life is just having no stress. Taking Additional Maths, Triple Science and Economics among my other subjects can really take a toll. That’s why when I lay down and sleep early for once, I just feel fantastic. A wonderful feeling to be sleeping. A wonderful feeling to know that I’ve done all my prep. for the next day before the required time. I just love it.

School is very taxing at some points. Long days mean I just wanna sleep in class all day long sometimes.

This was a nice Daily Prompt, I reckon. Something that I will probably come back to in a few years time if I continue to blog here. If you guys don’t know, I’m the man behind Two Liverpool Fans (twoliverpoolfans.com), so do check that out if you guys have the time.
